Job Description

Key responsibilities

  1. Programme
  • The planning of school closure and school academic calendar.
  • Plan and implement school events such as parent-teacher meetings, graduation concerts, Christmas parties, field trips etc.
  1. Curriculum
  • Conduct an audit and ensure class quality lesson delivery by teachers and staff.
  • Ensure lesson plans and materials for the programme (core curriculum/enrichment) are well managed. Ensure that learning materials are sufficient, changed/rotated regularly and recommend new materials where appropriate or necessary.
  1. Environment
  • Ensure the outdoor play area is safe for children to play with, free from mosquitoes and check play equipment. Ensure the physical environment (External / Internal) are conducive for learning.
  • Conduct Fire drills (every 6months),
  • Ensure the centre maintains high standards in hygiene.
  1. Children & Students
  • Receive children in the morning, ensure that physical and body temp checks are properly conducted, and attendance taken.
  • Ensure that Sign-in & out list/temp records are printed for the following week.
  • Look into children’s welfare matters – medicine is given on time and correctly, allergies are managed, etc. Ensure that children are well managed, nurtured, disciplined and developing good character traits.
  • Identify children that require special attention and assist teachers/follow-up.
  • Follow-up with parents when incidents involving children happened (eg, accidents etc). Ensure incidents/accidents are logged
  • Prepare student verification letters and testimony.
  1. Staff
  • Conduct staff appraisal, recommend promotions and prepare letters for redesignation/promotion.
  • Work closely with Singapore HQ on the staff training programme. Monitor staff training roadmap – organisation’s internal & external training program. (eg. Courses)
  • Manage teachers and support staff (cook & cleaner). Look into their well-being and ensure that that they carry out their duties well.
  • Conduct monthly staff team meetings & ensure minutes are taken.
  • Manage staff leave, MC and medical claims.
  • Stand-in duties for staff on Leave / MC. Activate Relief Teacher if more than 2 staff are absent. Develop a pool of part-time teachers.
  • Plan and supervise daily duties/schedule for Teaching staff (Lead Teacher and TA). E.g lunch duty, morning duty.
  • Submit OT & Part-timer’s timesheet/ unpaid leave or any other salary issues for submission to accounts for payroll
  • Plan Staff duties in terms of environment and materials maintenance – assign at the beginning of the year and ensure duties are carried out.
  • Recruit new staff and submit staff appointment documents to Director. Ensure that company’s items for staff are issued. Upon staff, resignation submits documents to Director. Ensure staff returns company’s items.
  • Resolve conflicts among staff.
  • Conduct investigation on staff’s misconduct.
  1. Parents Relationship
  • Plan Parents-Teacher Meeting (PTM).
  • Ensure teachers are prepared for children’s birthday celebrations.
  • Conduct yearly Parent’s Survey and ensure the summary reports are completed.
  • Ensure that parents are well-informed of centre events and changes (eg. closure dates, staff changes, excursions, etc)
  • Ensure that parents queries and feedback are attended to promptly by staff.
  • Plan events and or programs that involve parents.
  • Ensure that teachers upload information and pictures into every level’s profile by the stipulated deadline.
  1. Administration
  • Ensure that petty cash is properly managed and records kept. Inform the accounts through email regarding the balance petty cash amount at the end of the month and any money that is used as petty cash for the centre.
  • Ensure that monthly fee advice is prepared and issued on the 20th of each month. (hard/soft copy).
  • Oversees and support administrative staff in student enrolment and school fees payment.
  • Prepare letters to inform parents of any special dates like a library, field trips, centre closure.
  • Quarterly newsletter to parents.
  • Oversees and support administrative staff in groceries purchase for school’s operation.
  • Host prospecting parents in school.
  1. Others
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc suits or projects as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Degree in Education or in a teaching subject from recognized universities
  • Singaporean nationality
  • Teaching Certification from recognized institutions
  • Relevant teaching experience in Singapore schools
  • Strong managerial and administrative experience in education institutions
  • Experience in a leadership position in Singapore schools. Experience in working in international schools is an advantage
  • Understanding and having knowledge of the Singapore Education System
  • Strong competency in English Language is essential, competency in another language is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge in curriculum, pedagogy and assessments
  • Minimum 15 years of working experience in education institutions, including at least 8- 10 years in school/Faculty leadership role
  • Willing to be stationed in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
  • Willing to work flexibly in dynamic and fast-pace environment, and to travel extensively (when necessary)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong ability in leadership, networking, teamwork, and problem-solving
  • Meticulous, analytical and self-driven
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in collaboration with others
  • Ability to think outside the box in identifying problems and implementing solutions
  • Works well under pressure, well organized and with strong attention to details
